Through the practice of mindfulness meditation and mindfulness exercises in our day to day life, we train ourselves to be with the intensity of pregnancy, parenting, birth and labor pain.

We can train ourselves to respond appropriately to each situation as it arises without over or under reacting.

As we are practicing, we are calming our normally over reactive mind and as a result, our brain will respond by producing the perfect amount of beneficial hormones to aid proper labor function, oxygenation and a non fear based approach to childbirth.

We will do course work in which we are using a CD and the John Kabat Zinn book, Full Catastrophe Living.

There will be homework, discussion and practice periods while you learn about the physiology of birth, breastfeeding and early parenting.

Mindfulness workshops for Doulas, aspiring midwives, midwives, nurses and other health care professionals preventing burn out, keeping our practice fresh and understanding the anatomy of the mind.

True and lasting change in our birth environment can only happen from the inside out. It has to happen in the hearts and minds of new mothers and fathers, midwives, doctors and nurses. It takes commitment and little bravery and the willingness to ask oneself some uncomfortable questions. Beautiful and peaceful births usually don't just happen. It takes a lot of inner work to arrive at maturity needed to be with the realness of birth and pregnancy. It is a natural time to ripen and mature for both mother and father.

It is up to us to take charge and use this precious time wisely. These courses are designed to help bring the intention of respectful parenting our lives through mindfulness practice.
