Shine a light on your own wisdom

The sequence of pregnancy, birth, postpartum and early childhood can best be understood as a continuum that demands a steady mind training and personal growth in leaps, but also the complete and continuous care of a highly skilled professional.

Why birth & early parenting matter

As a Buddhist midwife and mother of five, I view childbearing and parenting as one of the most precious experiences of life.  Through birth, we enter an invaluable right of passage, in which we learn to challenge our short comings and discover and utilize previously untapped inner strengths.

In this period of both, joy and tremendous effort, the most capable and useful tool is the mind.  Thus learning and exercising a mindful parenting style through the practice of yoga and meditation is the best trust funds we possible can establish for ourselves and our children.
"Birth and parenting preparation based on mindfulness leads to a mindful parenting style which fosters mutual respect and trust, building a strong foundation for life"

- Angelika Nugent

Holistic midwifery care

Complete, continuous and personalized care during pregnancy, birth, and the first 6 weeks postpartum, including lactation, is the most effective way to stay away from the industrialized, one-size-fits-all birth culture that produces unsupported bonding and pays no attention to the emotional and mental aspects of care during pregnancy, birth and early parenting.

My family midwifery practice provides continuity of care through one-hour long prenatals, allowing ample time to personalize your birth preparation, discuss at length your birth plan and incorporate prenatal parenting education.
